Lisa + Steve | 15th Anniversary RETRO Wedding Edit // Lake Mahinapua, Hokitika

The year was 2006. Facebook had just become a thing. Nickelback & High School Musical were at the top the charts…

…& Lisa and Steve got hitched.

Their story begins way back in 1998 when Lisa and some friends drove up from Balclutha to stay with a mutual friend flatting with Steve in Hokitika. They soon struck up a friendship which grew with the passing of time - to a point where the distance between their two small towns was too great.

Lisa soon hedged her bets and moved to Hokitika to be with her mate.

Fast forward to 2006 when they took their vows on the shores of Lake Mahinapua on a perfect West Coast day (of course), celebrated with family and friends. As the years passed, two children were born to complete their family. Cody (10) and Luke (8) are blessed to have parents who will first and always remain best friends at the core of their marriage.

Luckily for Lisa & Steve, they had the day documented on film. Recorded, but like so many, never watched.

With this film comes the birth of ‘Weka Films Retro Wedding Edits’! (details below)

Got old wedding footage on VHS or original Camcorder tapes?

Although VHS life expectancy varies from one VHS tape to the next, they have been found to deteriorate 10 to 20 percent over the course of 10 to 25 years. Tapes aren’t just the magnetic film inside. The plastic on the casing can become brittle in as little as 10 years and the glue that holds the tape to the reels can unbind quicker than you’d think.

Tapes recorded in the 1980s & 1990s will now be approaching the end of their life cycle.
