As adults we often think of getting into the outdoors as a big mission. We plan and prepare, then often bail because of crappy weather or conflicting commitments. But what if we stay close to home, even in the rain? This week is Get Outdoors Week in NZ, and sure while you could plan a big adventure for the weekend, sometimes your own backyard is the most exciting of all. Kids are stoked when we don’t have to drive for hours, or even walk for hours, allowing them to stop, play, and explore more. In this film you will see us doing just that, exploring the bush directly behind our home in Kumara, New Zealand with friends. For this overnight adventure we didn’t even leave home till 3pm, and returned late the next morning. While it’s true that not everyone has access to conservation land within walking distance of their home, we are so lucky in NZ for it to never be far away. So I challenge you, what can you find within just one hour of your home? It’s time to get outdoors and make the most of this amazing place we call home, Aotearoa 🥾❤️
